We just had a new addition to the Compact States – Vermont! That brings the compact to 36 states currently.

Also, the Pennsylvania state just passed the legislation and is awaiting for the Governor’s signature. If signed, will make the NLC 37 states.

In another news, APRN compact licenses have been approved by NCSBN just this month, but so far no state has joined it yet. Hoping this follows the trend so APRNs like CRNAs and NPs can practice anywhere as well

Fact:
1. To get a compact license privilege, you must have a license and a permanent residence address on one of the compact states.
2. If you do not have a compact state home address, your license is only single-state. This favors those who are here in the US.
3. A compact license can only be used for temporary jobs like travel nursing, remote/work from home jobs, or telemedicine. You cannot use it if you are permanently moving to another state.
3. If you permanently move to another state, you must apply for licensure by endorsement to the new state. The compact license designation is cancelled by your previous home state. If you want to get a compact license, you must apply to your new home state board for this designation only if they participate in NLC.
